Sanremo’s Casinò, opened on 14th January 1905, and was elegantly designed by Eugenio Ferret, a
French architect.
The building has strong Liberty features merging with French eclecticism as well
as NeoBaroque décor, it is definitely Sanremo’s most significant monument to the
Belle Epoque. Its charm remains unchanged to this day. The dignified elegance
of its interior and furnishings offers visitors a unique ambience to enjoy some
unforgettable times. The management of Sanremo’s Casinò is inspired by a fundamental
principle “not only gambling”, being well aware that culture makes the difference
between just a gambling house and a Casinò.

The history of Villa Nobel begins at the end of 1870, when Pietro Vacchieri, a chemist from Rivoli, purchased
some plots of land east of the town centre and had an elegant mansion built there.
Later the building was purchased by inventor Alfred Nobel, complete with "all
the furniture, mirrors, carpets, bronze sculptures, paintings", as can be evidenced
by the surviving documents. He personally added rich furnishings.
In 1969, Villa Nobel was purchased by the Azienda Autonoma di Soggiorno e Turismo
di Sanremo for the purpose of hosting events of high cultural, scientific and
tourist significance at both national and international level, solely for public
enjoyment and at no profit. The Province of Imperia, the official proprietor since
1973, has maintained that commitment , and equipped Villa Nobel with all the necessary
facilities.
